Perth & Swan Valley

Australia's oldest wine region (the Swan Valley pre-dates the Hunter), an under-rated city beer scene, and a sunset over the Indian Ocean. WA punches harder than its postcode suggests.

The Swan Valley is the oldest continuously-producing wine region in Australia — older than the Hunter by twelve years. It’s also a 25-minute drive from Perth CBD, which makes it the easiest cellar-door day-trip in any Australian capital.

Our Perth crew runs four tours: Swan Valley wine days, a small-but-excellent Perth craft beer walk through Northbridge and Highgate, a sunset gin tour out of Fremantle, and a long-day Margaret River trip for guests who don’t mind a 6am start.

What’s worth coming for

Swan Valley Wine Day. Three cellar doors, a long lunch at Mandoon Estate, and a stop at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. Pickup from CBD at 10am, back by 6pm.

Perth Craft Beer Walk. Three breweries on foot through Northbridge and Highgate. The Northbridge precinct has six independent breweries within 800m — the highest density in Western Australia.

Fremantle Gin & Sunset Tour. Two distilleries plus a final stop at a beachside bar for sunset. Late-afternoon pickup; finishes at sundown.
